Pool Renovation Sunshine Coast

Tell us about the pool that needs work, and one local provider takes the enquiry, inspects the pool and puts a price to you in writing. In Queensland the pool licence classes apply to work valued over A$3,300, and plumbing, drainage and gas fitting need a QBCC licence at any value. Since 1 April 2025 only a licensed electrician may work on a pool pump or light.

  • Each enquiry goes to one independent provider for the Sunshine Coast, not to a list of firms that all ring you.
  • We do not renovate pools. The provider inspects, then names the price.
  • Every call opens with a notice that it may be recorded.

Four things to know first

  • Two pool types, two licence classes QBCC's construction class names the interior finishes, tiling and coping of concrete pools. Its installation class names the maintenance and repair of prefabricated and fibreglass pools.
  • Pumps and lights became electrical work in 2025 From 1 April 2025 water equipment is prescribed electrical equipment, and only licensed electricians can carry out electrical work on it.
  • Draining the pool is regulated Backwash from swimming pools is a prescribed water contaminant in Queensland, and depositing it in a roadside gutter or stormwater drainage is an offence.
  • The fence has its own standard A pool that can be filled to 300 mm or more must meet the pool safety standard, and the local council can check it and fine an owner whose pool does not comply.

Three steps

From enquiry to quote

  1. Tell us about the pool Concrete or fibreglass, and what is wrong with it or what you want changed.
  2. It is passed on Your enquiry goes to one independent local provider covering the Sunshine Coast. The provider pays for the introduction; you never do.
  3. A provider inspects and quotes The provider looks at the pool and prices the work in writing. The price is theirs to set.

Pool Renovation across the Sunshine Coast

A concrete pool and a fibreglass pool sit under different QBCC licence classes: the construction class names the interior finish, tiling and coping of concrete pools, and the installation class names the maintenance and repair of fibreglass ones. A fence that has been repaired, moved or re-hung still has to meet the pool safety standard, and Sunshine Coast Council charges A$590 for a fence inspection and certificate. On a canal or lake-front lot, draining the pool is a rule of its own: the council says pool backwash and run-off can cause major beach erosion and damage to revetment walls. The fence inspection article sets out the council's fee lines, and the suburbs page lists the five suburbs with a page of their own.
